First let me say, “Happy Holidays” everyone! We here at the NCAIED wish you all a blessed, safe and prosperous holiday season! I am very thankful for an incredible year of growth at the NCAIED and the chance to enhance our mission of growing business opportunity for Indian Country!

Our regional Reservation Economic Summit (RES), RES New Mexico was our largest yet, with over 700 people in attendance for the premier economic development event in Indian Country, which took place November 16th through the 19th at the Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino in beautiful Santa Fe, NM. We’re already looking forward to next year, when we return to Buffalo Thunder for a second consecutive year.

In this newsletter you’ll find recaps of some of the events that made RES New Mexico a success, including the first-of-its-kind Youth Entrepreneurship Summit (YES!), which attracted nearly 200 local Native youth who are interested in business and entrepreneurship. YES! gave these aspiring business leaders the chance to hear from those who have been in their shoes and become successful. And, as another first, we also hosted a live auction and benefit dinner to raise money for Valentino Rivera, who was severely injured during a car crash earlier in the year.

Of course no RES is complete without our signature seminars, trade show, artisan market, golf tournament (in the rain, and eventually snow, no less!), networking events, procurement trainings, an access to capital fair, and much more!

RES NM also received national media attention. The Associated Press covered our session on one of the hottest economic development topics in Indian Country – growing marijuana on tribal lands. While NCAIED does not take a position on this subject, we believe it’s important that Indian Country knows the risks and has as much information as possible as they make these economic development decisions. We will continue to build on the progress we made at RES New Mexico as we head into National RES Las Vegas 2016 from March 21-24. Next year will be our 30th Anniversary, and we have big things planned for the thousands who will be in attendance. Stay tuned for conference information, and register today!
