Fall is in full swing at the National Center, and we have a full slate of events over the next several months. From San Diego to Washington, DC, we’re expanding our programming that helps Native entrepreneurs and businesses get a leg up on the competition. On December 9 and 10, we’re partnering with the National Indian Gaming Association to host our first ever Native-to-Native (N2N) event in San Diego. Coupled with a unique Native Edge Institute focused on casinos and resorts, the N2N will feature programming focused on gaming facility procurement and contracting, supplier diversity, and access to capital. N2N will also host a targeted matchmaking session that brings together tribally/Native-owned manufacturers, vendors, and service providers with prospective clients, specifically gaming operations.

A week later, we’ll move across the country to host our first NEI in Washington, DC. If you’re a procurement officer or aspiring entrepreneur who wants to learn the latest in government contracting, join us in DC on December 17. These two events are just the beginning of a very busy schedule for the National Center. Want to know where we’ll be over the coming year? Check out our calendar page, which is a part of our newly redesigned website! We hope this will be more user-friendly and helpful for those visiting our page.

Elsewhere, we’re in the middle of gearing up for the 2020 Reservation Economic Summit (RES) in Las Vegas. We are finalizing speakers and the agenda, and there are still spaces for artisans and exhibitors who want to be a part of the largest economic development gathering in Indian Country. Have a good idea for a speaker or a panelist? Don’t hesitate to reach out to us! Discounted ticket prices are available for several more weeks, so don’t delay in securing your spot today.

And I would encourage you to learn more about the success of some of the businesses with which we work. In the October newsletter, we profiled the Oneida Nation’s Mission Support Services, which just won an important contract at one of the Army’s largest bases. MS2’s success is particularly gratifying for our own George Williams. In 2001, The Oneida Nation of Wisconsin was the first reservation George was assigned to as a procurement specialist, and his experience with the Oneida set a course for the work he continues today.

Thank you, and I hope to see you at a National Center event near you!

Sincerely,

Chris James
